CHARLESTON, WV-March 18, 2009— Senator Truman Chafin is pleased to announce that the federal stimulus bill will bring money into the state for numerous road projects. McDowell County will see projects that are set to begin within the next few months.
Many of the projects scheduled for 2009 are expected to allow numerous bridges to be inspected and replaced. There will be a signal replacement and some resurfacing starting later this year.
Bridges that will receive inspections include: Algoma Bridge, Panther Arch Bridge, Big Sandy Truss Bridge, English Road Bridge, and Northfork Arch Bridge. These will receive a design report and inspection for replacement.
The aforementioned bridges along with Bartley Branch Road Bridge, Garland Truss Bridge, and Roderfield Truss Bridge will be replaced this year.
The city of Bradshaw will be receiving a new signal to replace a deteriorated one already in place. WV 83 near the Virginia State Line will be resurfaced and have ditch work completed.
