Representatives from Mission West Virginia, Inc. Visited the McDowell Public Library, Welch, Wednesday afternoon, where they donated 10 laptop computers to create a computer lab. The computers are available to the public to be used on site for research, homework, resumes emailing or any number of other tasks.
The computers labs are funded through the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and are part of the Step Up Program, which has already created 45 community labs in rural areas of southern West Virginia.
In thanking the Mission West Virginia representatives, Librarian Donna Morgan related that the library already has wireless Internet and that the computers would be a great public asset.
