County Commission President Gordon Lambert and County Administrator Jennifer Wimmer are pictured looking over the application for the McDowell County Clean it/Green it Program. The program is set up to tear down dilapidated houses throughout the county. The owner of the property signs a form giving the Commission permission to tear down the house, but the owner retains the property.
Commissioner Lambert noted, “We use county employees to do the work at little cost to the county. The dilapidated house is removed, which helps the county look better and the property owner has a clean lot when the work is done. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
Lambert said that the applications to raze the dilapidated houses are available from Wimmer at the County Commission Office, Welch.
“The public needs to utilize the program more,” Lambert said. (Photo by Cathy Patton)
